The rapidly changing world, together with the recent political turmoil, volatility of global economy, social uncertainties, newly emerging armed conflicts, continuing threat of terror and ability of terrorists to acquire weapons produced with the latest technologies have increased the importance of the security and defence significantly.

In line with these developments, to achieve high level of national security and protect national interests, every country’s Armed Forces need state-of-the-art defence systems.  Moreover, it has also become very important for countries to cooperate in order to protect world peace.

IDEF-2011, the 10th International Defence Industry Fair, which is an important sign of this cooperation, will be held under the auspices and support of the Ministry of National Defence and under the management and responsibility of Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. The fair will be organized by Tuyap Fairs and Exhibitions Organization Inc. between 10-13 May 2011, at the TÜYAP Fair, Convention and Congress Center Büyükçekmece, Istanbul.

Total of 575 domestic and foreign companies from 44 countries (including Turkey), some of which are the leaders of the defence industry, will meet at IDEF-2011. In addition to companies, 31 ministers and more than 350 foreign delegation members from 65 countries have confirmed their visit.

Along with the Ministers of Defense, the Chiefs of Armed Forces, high-level civilian and military authorities and the executives of defence industry procurement agencies of allied countries will get a chance to exchange views during their visit to IDEF- 2011. Both domestic and foreign industrial organizations will also have the opportunity to establish important business connections.  

“100th Anniversary Activities” of the glorious Turkish Air Force, which competes with the age, will make IDEF-2011 even more exciting and colorful.

The surface ships, which have been designed and produced at Turkish Shipbuilding Yards, will also be exhibited at the Büyükçekmece Cove.

“The Fair Opening Reception” of IDEF-2011, the 10th International Defence Industry Fair will be hosted by the Minister of National Defence H.E. Mr. M. Vecdi GÖNÜL and “The Fair Welcome Reception” will be hosted by the General Manager of Turkish Armed Forces Foundation Mr. Hayrettin UZUN.
